Medical negligence means the failure to take reasonable care towards the patient as per the usual standards and prevalent situation. A doctor owes certain duties to the patient who consults him for illness. A deficiency in this duty results in negligence. Every individual has the right to claim damages for becoming victims for negligent acts committed by medical professionals. This webinar provides insights about Medical Negligence and doctor’s liability under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
About the Speaker: Dr. Sushil Gupta
Dr. Sushil Gupta is the founding and managing Partner of Panacea Legal firm based in Delhi but handles litigation across India. Before practice of law Dr. Gupta was Deputy Superintendent of Police in CBI, New Delhi, where he has handled a number of important and sensitive cases of National Importance. Before joining Civil Services, Dr. Gupta was a medical practitioner and also holds MBBS and PGDMLS degree which gives him in an extra insight into Medico-Legal Cases. Since 2004. Dr. Gupta has been practicing law and regularly appears before the Hon’ble Supreme Court, Hon’ble Delhi High Court, Rouse Avenue Courts and Hon’ble NCDRC. He is also a registered Patents Attorney. Dr. Gupta has also handled sensitive and matters of national importance involving Corruption, Disproportionate Assets, Bank Fraud etc. Dr. Gupta is also presently on the Panel of National Insurance Company Limited, since 2005, New India Assurance Company Limited since 2005 and United Insurance Company Limited since 2014 and also handles cases related to Gas Authority of India Limited, National Minorities Development Financial Corporation, Allahabad Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited. Dr. Gupta has almost assisted all the legal doyens of the Supreme Court Bar and is instrumental in getting laid down laws in several landmark cases.
